overview

The main screen of the application is split into four components:

Map Window – provides a visual representation of your area of interest or your search results.

Search Filters – allows you to perform a text-based search, and filter results by product type and/or date range.

Search Results – shows the outcome of your search as a list of available products, from which you can look at further details then add to your Basket.

My Basket – this is your virtual shopping trolley; containing your selected products before proceeding to checkout and payment.

Product Searching – Text-based Search

There are two methods you can use to search for products, either a Text-based Search or a Map-based Search.

The Text-based Search method uses the Search Filters to specify your requirements.

Make sure the search tool is set to Search Products by Text.

For a Text-Based Search, the first two filters
(Product Type and Date Range) are optional, but Place Name is required.

Filtering by Product Type (Optional):

You can leave the default selection as “ALL” products, or you can filter by Product Type by choosing either:

from the Product Filter drop down list.  This will limit the results to show only the selected type of product.

Note: You can also choose “State Wide Maps” from this list, which will immediately show you the state-wide products available.  The extra filters (Date Range and Place Name) will not be required for a state-wide product search. When looking at the list of state-wide products, click the Product Details button for more information.

Filtering by Date Range (Optional):calendar-button

You can specify a date range for the results in two ways:

Filtering by Place Name (Required):
PlaceName
A Place Name filter is required for all Text-based searches (except State Wide Maps).

Enter your search term in the Place Name Search text box.
The search function will match whole or parts of words, and is not case sensitive.

Map-Window

Click the Search Button when you have entered your filters to execute the text-based search.

The Search Results panel will display the matching locations as blue pins.

The Map Window will also represent the matching locations as blue pins.

Click the desired location pin in the Search Results list, to zoom to that location.

The Search Results will then expand, showing details of the available products (displayed as red markers).

Refer to the help section on Selecting Products for more information.

Note: If your search returns no results, try removing the filters – modify the Product Type filter to include “ALL” products, or widen your Date Range filter.  Also remember that not all locations that match your search will necessarily have data products associated with them.

Product Searching – Map-based Search

The Map-based Search method uses the interactive Map Window to specify a location.  You can use this method instead of a Text-based Search.

Make sure the search tool is set to Search Products by Map.

Once you have executed a Map-based or Text-based search, both the Search Results list and Map Window will display a red marker for each product (along with a basic description in the Search Results window).

Click on any of the red markers to zoom to the target area for that product.  The approximate area of the product data will display in yellow, and a callout with additional details will appear.

Click the More Info link on the callout to open the Product Details window.

The Product Details window provides additional information aboutProduct-Details
the specific product you have selected.

You can preview a thumbnail (low-quality version of the product) to ensure you have found your desired product before purchasing.

You can also preview a high quality example of the product type, which will show the clarity of the product.  Note that this is only an example of a product of the same type, and will not be the same geographic location as the product you have selected.

Other information in this window includes the Series Description product numbers (product identifiers), the Publication and Detail dates, and also the price(s) to purchase the data.
There are no additional charges for postage and handling.

If you want to purchase this product, click Add to Basket.

In the Shopping Basket window, you can specify the Quantity you require for each product, and select the Media type (if the data is available in more than one form).  Portable Document Files (PDF) are not posted to you, they are made available for download after your payment has been processed.  Products for all other media types are sent via Australia Post.

You can click Continue Shopping to return to the main screen of the application and select additional products, if required.  When you are finished, click Checkout to proceed to payment.

If there are any products in your Shopping Basket that show as Not Available, you will receive an error message if you try to Checkout.  Select the unavailable items, click Remove, and then Checkout again.
